SAEM Residents and Medical Students (RAMS) provides a forum for emergency physicians-in-training to have a voice within the academic community. There are many opportunities for residents and students to get involved in research, education, and leadership within emergency medicine, and to advocate for the unique needs of emergency medicine trainees.

Get Involved
Serve as a leader in academic emergency medicine by joining the RAMS Board, signing up for a RAMS Committee, or networking with other RAMS in the SAEM community and on Twitter. SAEM resident and medical student members automatically have access to RAMS benefits when you join SAEM. Learn more about the specific benefits of resident membership and medical student membership within SAEM.
Advancing the Future of Academic EM
The core purpose of RAMS is to advance the future of emergency medicine through the development of resident and medical students into academic leaders. View the RAMS Strategic Plan to learn more about the vision of RAMS in academic emergency medicine.
Join a RAMS Committee
RAMS Committee Sign-Ups for 2022-2023 are now closed.
Serving on a Society for Academic Emergency Medicine or (SAEM)/RAMS (Residents and Medical Students) committee will further your professional development by providing leadership experience, expanding your professional network, and strengthening your ties within the specialty. If you are interested in developing future educational solutions that address the needs and wishes of residents and medical students, championing the next generation of emergency medicine academicians and leaders, and influencing the direction of the Society at large, we invite you to review the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine or (SAEM)/RAMS (Residents and Medical Students) committee and sign up for those that best suit your interests. The term of service for RAMS committees begins each year at the annual meeting in May and lasts for 12 months. The submission deadline for the RAMS Committee Interest Form is October 15, 2021. Notification of committee selections are sent out the first week of February 2022.
Please note: 2021–2022 SAEM committee members must reapply for the 2022-2023 term.
