American Indian / Alaska Native Health

The GEMA American Indian / Alaska Native (AI/AN) Health Committee strives to promote the health and well-being of American Indians and Alaska Natives by improving the delivery of emergency care through research, education, and mentorship within a framework that recognizes the unique cultural contexts of this population.

Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Workshop Task Force

The GEMA BEC Workshop Task Force is responsible for coordinating the annual BEC workshop at the SAEM Annual Meeting.

Equity in Global EM

The GEMA Equity in Global EM Committee aims to improve the recognition and understanding of pervasive inequities and colonial legacies within global EM. Our mission is to create impactful and sustainable changes at the individual, institutional, domestic, and international levels. By disrupting inequities and counterproductive power dynamics, we strive to advance global health equity and foster a more just and equitable global EM field.

Global EM Fellowship

The GEMA Global EM Fellowship Committee is for individuals interested in completing a fellowship in global EM and global EM fellowship directors. Visit our Global EM Fellowships Consortium (GEMFC) page with information on fellowship and application instructions.

Global EM Resources Task Force

The GEMA Global EM Resources Task Force is responsible for developing and dispersing our global EM resources handout.

Global Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The GEMA Global EMS Committee is focused on providing support, resources, and networking for those interested in global EMS and pre-hospital care.

Global Engagement

The GEMA Global Engagement Committee is focused on engaging GEMA members in academy collaborations and activities.

Humanitarian Task Force

The GEMA Humanitarian Task Force seeks to promote ethical and sustainable research, practice, and education about critical issues facing populations facing forced displacement, conflict, and humanitarian disasters. Members also maintain our curated Humanitarian Resource List.

Pediatric EM

The GEMA Pediatric EM Committee seeks to promote the development of sustainable, equitable pediatric EM systems in the global south through education, research, and capacity building. Members conduct systematic reviews of global PEM literature, promote the awareness of global PEM training programs and provide community among trainees and faculty, and promote evidence-based practices in PEM in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs).

Ultrasound

The GEMA Ultrasound Committee seeks to lower barriers to building sustainable point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) program and building bidirectional partnerships through POCUS education, research, and capacity building.
