  • Nicholas Caputo, MD, MSc

    Attending Physician & Physician Advisor

    NYC H+H/Lincoln Medical Center

    Dr. Nicholas Caputo is an Attending Physician and Physician Advisor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at NYC H+H/Lincoln Medical Center in the South Bronx. He is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and also an attending emergency physician at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is the Director of Urgent Care and Home Services for Atria, a concierge service in Manhattan. Dr. Caputo is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He completed his internship in General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, his residency training in Emergency Medicine at NYC H+H/Lincoln, where he served as a Chief Resident and his Fellowship training in Critical Care/Retrieval Medicine at Royal Darwin Hospital/Careflight in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Dr. Caputo is widely published in emergency medicine and his research seeks to understand the evidence behind the conventional wisdom practiced in emergency departments across the world in order to determine the efficacy of current management strategies (such as preoxygenation in RSI, apneic oxygenation during intubation, non-invasive markers for occult shock) in order to improve safety and quality outcomes for patients. He focuses jointly on medical pathology and socioeconomic disparities in medicine. Dr. Caputo also serves as a Major in the United States Army Reserve, currently assigned to the 947th Forward Resuscitative and Surgical Team based in West Hartford, CT. He returned from a deployment to Mogadishu, Somalia with Joint Special Operations Task Force-East Africa in combat support of Naval Special Warfare/Navy SEALs.

  • Caroline Molins, MD, MSMEd

    University of South Alabama Medical Center

    Dr. Molins is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama (USA) and a full-time physician at USA University Hospital & Children and Women’s Hospital since January 2023. Previously, she was the Assistant Program Director and Curriculum Director at AdventHealth Emergency Medicine Residency (2020-2022) and held roles at Loma Linda University, the University of Central Florida, and Florida State University.

    Dr. Molins received a master’s in medical education from Lake Erie College of Medicine, completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Puerto Rico SOM, earned a Doctorate in Medicine from Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University.

    Dr. Molins has a significant presence in academic presentations and participation. They have presented at local, regional, national and international conferences such as FCEP Symposium by the Sea, SAEM SE Regional conference, CORDEM Academic Assembly and the Mediterranean Emergency Medicine Congress. She has also been involved as a judge in national emergency medicine competitions and contributed to numerous scholarly works, including peer-reviewed articles to medical journals AEM Education and Training, Cureus and Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Molins is a member of several professional organizations, including CORD EM, AAEM, and ACEP, and has participated in professional development programs such as ALiEM, ACEP’s EDDA and EMBRS and MERC Scholars.

    Dr. Molins holds active medical licenses in Alabama and Florida, with certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support. She has received multiple awards, including the Golden Apple Award from UCF COM and Preceptor of the Year from AdventHealth Emergency Medicine Residency.

    Her volunteer work includes being a founding member of the Women’s Philanthropic Giving Circle of Central Florida, participating in the AdventHealth for Children’s Pet Therapy Program, sees the Hispanic underserved community at Clinica MiSalud and plays competitive tennis.

  • Valerie A. Pierre, MD, FAAEM

    University of Maryland

    Dr. Valerie A. Pierre, MD, FACEP, FAAEM is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland.
    Dr. Pierre graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, where she developed an interest in public health and healthcare disparities in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She attended Howard University College of Medicine and trained in Emergency Medicine residency at the Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Pierre subsequently completed an ultrasound fellowship at New York University.
    In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Pierre is the Assistant Medical Director at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She also serves as a faculty mentor for the departmental Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. Outside of her work within her local academic community, she lectures and leads hands-on training sessions on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) internationally.
    In addition to local leadership, Dr. Pierre is the Chair for the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion section of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and Membership Chair of the Academy for Diversity & Inclusion of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. She also serves on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging workgroup of the Education Committee for the Society for Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships and the POCUS subcommittee of the Global Emergency Medicine Academy of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. During her medical training, she previously held several national leadership positions, including her service on the Board of Directors for the Student National Medical Association as a National Co-Chair for the Health Policy and Legislative Affairs Committee and as a National Vice Chair for the Health Policy Committee for the Emergency Medicine Residents Association.
    Her clinical and research interests lie in her long-standing passion for health equity and clinical ultrasound. More specifically, she is interested in reducing health disparities in at-risk populations and improving access to care for marginalized populations.
