  • SAEM Hackathon Webinar Learning Series: Introduction to Agentic AI

    In the second session of the SAEM Hackathon Webinar Learning Series, we will explore how agentic artificial intelligence (AI) is "changing the game" of data science and informatics. This talk will review what agentic AI can be used for, some of the best and most practical applications of agentic AI, as well as the challenges that can arise from using this new technology. This session is open to anyone interested in a primer on approaching problems with an informatics lens, and is especially helpful for those who are interested in participating in the Hackathon event at SAEM26. It is led by Philip Jarrett, MD, MBA, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern, where he conducts research focused on the development and translation of acute care products using medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

Drawing on national qualitative research and personal experience, Dr. Michelle Lin shares themes behind why physicians leave and how research, leadership, and system-level advocacy can serve as forms of resistance. Through this lens, she examines not just how to stay, but how to thrive and lead.

It will be led by Abby Orr, MSHI, RN, the Director of Informatics in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. In her role, she takes an informatics lens to major hospital and system-wide challenges on a daily basis.
