Ethics in Humanitarian Research and Qualitative Research Methods in Humanitarian Settings
Hosted by the SAEM Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA) Humanitarian Task Force Research Education Working Group, this webinar will feature two presentations: Ethics in Humanitarian Research by Rodrigo Mena Fluhmann, PhD, MEnv; and Qualitative Research Methods in Humanitarian Settings by Kelli O'Laughlin, MD, MPH, and Robin Klabbers, PhD, MSc.
This series is intended for EM physicians at all career stages interested in research in humanitarian settings (disaster and conflict-affected regions, refugee health, etc.), however topics will likely be of interest to a diverse audience of EM and global health researchers.
- Dr. Mena is an Associate Professor of Disasters and Humanitarian Governance at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Deputy Director of the Humanitarian Studies Centre, and Head of Climate and Conflict at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre.
- Dr. O'Laughlin is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Global health and faculty member of the International Clinical Research Center at the University of Washington.
- Dr. Klabbers is a Research Scientist at the International Clinical Research Center and Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Washington.
