Health System Collapse in Protracted Conflict: Yemen, Sudan, and Syria

Sponsored by the SAEM Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA) Humanitarian Task Force, this webinar will center clinician voices from three regions experiencing prolonged conflict and humanitarian crises. We're bringing together emergency medicine physicians and healthcare leaders with direct frontline experience to discuss what health system dysfunction and collapse looks like from a clinical perspective - not as policy observers, but as practitioners managing care in resource-limited crisis settings.

  • Yemen: region experiencing prolonged conflict with documented supply shortages, disease outbreaks including cholera, and significant maternal and child health challenges.
  • Sudan: region experiencing active conflict with documented infrastructure damage, healthcare facility closures, and healthcare worker displacement.
  • Syria: region experiencing prolonged conflict with documented infrastructure reconstruction needs and humanitarian health challenges.

Our speakers bring clinical expertise, operational experience in crisis settings, and evidence-based knowledge about EM response when resources are limited. This is a conversation about the clinical realities of EM in crisis contexts.
