  • Hillary Moss, MD

    Montefiore Medical Center

    Dr Moss completed her medical school at Stony Brook University SOM. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Zucker NSLIJ Emergency Medicine Residency, and stayed on to complete her fellowship in Health Professions Education and Simulation. She currently works at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY where she serves as an Assistant Director of Simulation Education and served as the Director of PA/NP Education. She is starting a new role at Einstein College of Medicine as the Director of the Transition to Clerkship Course and Theme Leader for Procedural Skills and Physical Examination for all medical students. She is heavily involved in residency simulation, residency education, and resident research and her current work is on expanding the teaching of palliative care to EM Residents.

  • Nikki M. Binz, MD

    University of North Carolina

    Dr. Nikki Binz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri but has called North Carolina home for over 20 years. She graduated with Honors from UNC Chapel Hill with a double major in Biology and Spanish and continued her medical education at the UNC School of Medicine. She then completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at UNC Hospitals. For these reasons, she proclaims herself a “Triple Tar Heel.” She has served as faculty in the medical school since 2011. She works clinically in the Emergency Department and teaches in graduate and undergraduate medical education. Since 2015, she has served as the Residency Program Director for Emergency Medicine, which graduates 12 residents annually. Within the Department of Emergency Medicine, she is also the Associate Chair for Academic Affairs and the Co-Director of Faculty Development. She is active within the national Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine and the Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine. She is trained as a Certified Professional Coach and coaches internally within her department. She has received awards from the UNC Academy Educators including the Educational Research Mentor Award and the Medical Student Advisor Award. She is currently recognized with a UNC Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorship, a 4-year program to honor and support UNC School of Medicine mid-career faculty who have demonstrated a track record of sustained leadership in teaching medical students as well as educational innovation. In April 2023, she became UNC’s first Associate DIO with GME.

    At home, she is married with 10yr old identical twin boys and 2 bonus kids. She enjoys being outdoors at the beach or in the mountains with her Vizsla pup named Tilli.

  • Jeff Hill, MD MEd

    University of Cincinnati

    I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. I graduated residency training at the University of Cincinnati in 2012 and thereafter completed a 2 year Masters of Medical Education through the University of Cincinnati. I have been involved in residency leadership since the completion of my fellowship training with a particular focus on residency didactics, teaching residents to be teachers, and asynchronous/technology facilitated educational interventions. My scholarly work is focused in these content areas as well with original publications on the development and validation of a lecture assessment tool and using Slack to facilitate virtual small group discussions. In our Deparment I also serve as the chair of our Education Leadership Academy, the goal of which is to teach residents the management principles and skills necessary to be leaders in Emergency Medicine education.

  • Judy A. Linden, MD

    Boston Medical Center

    Judith Linden, MD, MED, Emergency Medicine, is Professor of Emergency Medicine at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, and Executive Vice Chair in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Boston Medical Center. She has mentored hundreds of medical students, residents and junior faculty. She is passionate about increasing diversity in academic Emergency Medicine, and has published in the literature on disparities in leadership and promotion in Emergency Medicine. She was founder and creator of the AWAEM letter witers bureau.. She currently serves on the SAEM Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Membership Committee and the SAEM Scientific Assembly Porgramming Committee. She is active in AWAEM (Academy for Women in Emergency Medicine) Administrative Leadership Development and research committees.

  • Alina Tsyrulnik, MD

    Yale University

    Alina Tsyrulnik, MD attended Barnard College majoring in biology and minoring in psychology, graduating Suma Cum Laude. Thereafter, she pursued a medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Yale University School of Medicine. She served as Chief Resident 2011-2012. Upon the completion of her residency, Dr. Tsyrulnik accepted a faculty position in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale University School of medicine. In 2013 she became the Assistant Residency Director for the department, and in 2017 she became the Associate Residency Director. Dr. Tsyrulnik is primarily in charge of the Emergency Department’s PGY2 class, taking a central role in mentorship, remediation, and clinical as well as academic development of 19 residents per year. In 2022, Dr. Tsyrulnik became the MD Director for the Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience (ILCE) course for Yale School of Medicine. The course centers on developing clinical skills in an interprofessional setting of MD, PA, and MSN students. Her academic interests are in resident education and assessment.

    Dr. Kathryn Redinger is an accomplished emergency medicine physician and educator. She holds a medical degree with Honors in Bioethics and Professionalism from Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine and completed her residency at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident. She is a board-certified emergency practicing physician in Michigan. Dr. Redinger is actively involved in medical education, holding an Associate Professor position at Western Michigan University's Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, where she also serves as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Applications. Dr. Redinger is also a dedicated researcher with publications in the American Journal of Bioethics, Medical Education, the Journal of Emergency Medicine, and West J Emerg Med. Her commitment to healthcare extends to various leadership roles and community engagement activities. Dr. Redinger's passion for improving patient care and medical education continues to drive her contributions to the field.

    Dr. Walker has served as ED director, quality chair and regional hospital practice chair and is currently the Vice Chair of Digital Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She has an academic focus on health systems improvement and care delivery and is actively engaged in exploring, implementing and understanding the effects of virtual care, AI and maching learning into the clinical space. She believes women belong at all leadership tables and is a passionate about supporting their equitable advancement.

  • Alyssa Tyransky, MTDA

    Alyssa Tyransky, MTDA is a data analyst with The Ohio State University and the Benchmarking Surveys and Data Analytics Manager for the Academy of Administrators in Academic Emergency Medicine. Alyssa received her Bachelor's of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University in 2018 and her Masters in Translational Data Analytics from The Ohio State University in 2023.

    Alyssa's time at The Ohio State Univesity has focused primarily on faculty productivity scorecards, operational data in the emergency department, and billing and coding. She has also been invovled with the residency program, undergraduate medical education, research, and APP recruitment. Through her time with the benchmarking surveys, the surveys have seen their highest participation among individual departments and institutions in the history of the surveys.

  • Peter Wyer, MD

    Columbia University Medical Center

    Dr. Wyer is the founder and chair of the Section on Evidence Based Healthcare of The New York Academy of Medicine and is Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in NYS. He is a leading author and educator in the area of evidence-based health care. He was a member of the McMaster based Evidence-Based Medicine Working Group and a substantial contributor to the Users’ Guides to the Medical Literature series published by JAMA. He has originated and edited innovative educational series on EBM in leading journals including Canadian Medical Association Journal, Journal of General Internal Medicine and Annals of Emergency Medicine. He is currently Associate Editor at the latter journal. He was a recipient of an award from the Stemmler Fund of the National Board of Medical Examiners to develop and validate assessment tools for the ACGME practice-based learning and improvement competency and has received support from AHRQ for programs based at the New York Academy of Medicine. He was founder and first Chair of the SAEM Evidence Based Healthcare and Implementation Interest Group.

  • Frank J. Jurkiewicz, MBA

    Frank Jurkiewicz, M.B.A serves as the Vice Chair of Administrative Affairs for the University of Florida Department of Emergency Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. In this role, he functions as the chief non-faculty executive (Chief Administrator, Emergency Services) in the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM).

    Frank’s primary goal is to ensure that faculty have the resources and infrastructure necessary to optimize their productivity in each mission domain while maintaining a sustainable financial model. His focus is on continuous collaboration and the development and implementation of operations and infrastructure necessary to advance the clinical, education, and research missions.

    Frank completed a Master of Business Administration at the Krannert School of Management – Purdue University and has assembled a leadership career in healthcare over the past 18 years, which includes both academic health center and private practice groups.

    He has had the opportunity over the years and across several premiere academic and private medical centers and colleges to work with many bright, rising stars in academics and healthcare. Experience includes Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Indiana University Health - Indiana University School of Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.

  • Ken Milne, MD

    Western University

    Dr. Milne is a staff physician at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada. He has been doing medical research for 40 years publishing on a variety of topics. Dr. Milne has been working clinically for 29 years and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Emergency Medicine) and the Department of Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. He has taught evidence-based medicine, clinical epidemiology, critical appraisal and biostatistics at Western University in London, Ontario. Dr. Milne is passionate about skepticism and critical thinking. He is the creator of the knowledge translation project, The Skeptics’ Guide to Emergency Medicine (TheSGEM). Currently, Dr. Milne is doing his Executive MBA at the Ivey School of Business. Ken is married to Barb and has three amazing children.

    Dr. Milne serves as a senior editor of Academic Emergency Medicine. He has no funding from the pharmaceutical or biomedical device industry. He is on faculty for the Center for Medical Education and EMRAP. Dr. Milne does partake in medical malpractice reviews and holds a patent on a pediatric resuscitation device.

    Chris Carpenter, MD, MSc, is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Vice Chair of Implementation & Innovation at Mayo Clinic. He is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Academic Emergency Medicine, Associate Editor of both Annals of Internal Medicine’s ACP Journal Club and the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. He is former Chair of the EBHI Interest Group and co-authored the Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research (EQUATOR) Network Standards for Reporting of Implementation Research (StaRI) reporting guidelines. He designed and led the Washington University in St. Louis Emergency Medicine Journal Club format and website and serves as faculty for multiple secondary peer-review resources. He was also faculty for the McMaster Evidence Based Clinical Practice Workshop and serves as Content Editor for the American Board of Emergency Medicine’s MyEMCert Key Advances.

    Dr. Taylor Haston is from Charlotte, NC, completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University, Emergency Medicine residency training at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by a Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at MCG. She is now an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, as well as Director for the Wilderness Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Haston has earned her Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and certifications in Level 1 Swiftwater Rescue, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diving. She works as medical support for an international ultra-marathon race series as frequently as her schedule allows and has traveled internationally as faculty, not only with the Wilderness Medicine Section, but also with the International Medicine Section and the Ultrasound Section at MCG.

He is a full-time clinician (attending physician) in the MGH Emergency Department and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He an affiliated faculty member at the Arctic Initiative at the Belfer Center, Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is the primary investigator of NO COV-ED, a clinical trial investigating use of inhaled nitric oxide to treat acute COVID in the emergency department.

    I'm an emergency medicine physician and geriatrician with a special interest in geriatric emergency medicine and acute care of older adults. I received my medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC and completed a combined emergency medicine/internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD followed by a geriatric fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, also in Baltimore, MD. Currently, I'm on faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with dual appointments in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. Although I spend the bulk of my clinical time in the emergency department, championing the care of older adults, I actively practice inpatient internal medicine and inpatient geriatric consultation.

    Dr. Zhuqing "Charlie" Li (Ph.D, MBBS, MSc) is the Acting Deputy Director of the Office of Reseach Trainging and Special Programs (ORTSP), Division of Extramural Research, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH. ORTSP primarily manages and coordinates NIAID Research Training and Career Development portfolios (Fs/Ks/Ts), SBIR/STTR programs, and special programs including international program outreach and funding compliance, research administrative supplements progrms including diversity supplements, PCTAS, continuity supplements, as well as G11, R25, R38/K38, LRPs, and NIAID “at-risk” investigator R01 initiatives. Dr. Li was trained as a physician scientist focusing on infectious diseases and immunity, clincial immunology, autoimmunity, T cell immune response, genomic profiling, and clinical trial reserach studies.
