GEC works with partner institutions in Uganda to promote EM education and development and facilitates a mid-level provider training program. GEM fellows could work with GEC in areas of curriculum development, research, administration, or field work (as COVID-travel restrictions allow) involving bedside teaching in a clinical environment.

  • Faculty Development Committee: Bias in Medical Education

    There is bias in medical education, yet many educators are unaware of the extent of bias that currently exists. Addressing bias is key and crucial to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine. A collaboration of ADIEM and the Equity and Inclusion Education Subcommittee, the session will discuss how medical educators can advocate for changes in curricula, evaluation, and recommendations systems to mitigate bias. The didactic will include discussions about implicit/unconscious bias; leaky pipeline; recruitment and faculty development without intentionality; bias in faculty evaluations; benefits of diverse representation; and race-based medicine. This webinar is a cosponsorship from ADIEM, Equity and Inclusion, AWAEM, CDEM, and RAMS.
