Biography

"Mark Olaf, DO, is the vice chair of emergency medicine education at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, as well as a regional associate dean for the central campus of the medical school. He is a 2006 cum laude Graduate of Bucknell University with a BS in Biology with Honors, and a 2010 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his doctorate of osteopathy. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center, and served as chief resident. He has been a member of the CDEM academy for this year, involved in clerkship direction for 5 years, and is a current co-chair of the CORD advising students committee. He is running for this position to bring his experience and talents to SAEM, and to further develop clerkship standards and opportunities for students across the country. He would like to be involved in contributing to this committee in order to expand the “toolbox” of resources available to clerkship directors."


Dr. Olaf is a board-certified emergency physician. His clinical interests include toxicology, emergency medical services and medical education. His research interests include medical education. Dr. Olaf earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
