Biography
Jamie J. McCarthy, MD, MHA, is executive vice president and chief physician executive for Memorial Hermann in Houston, where he leads the physician organization and advances development of an integrated, physician-centric care network.
Dr. McCarthy earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine training at the University of Chicago. He is board certified in emergency medicine and emergency medical services.
He previously served as professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medical School and as chief of emergency medical services for Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center, overseeing major clinical programs including trauma and aeromedical services.
Dr. McCarthy is active in regional and state emergency care leadership, including service with the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council and the Texas Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council. He also serves as EMS medical director for the West University Place Fire Department and as a neurotrauma consultant for the National Football League.
