Biography

Jamie J. McCarthy, MD, MHA, serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive for Memorial Hermann. He also leads the physician organization and advances the development of an integrated, physician-centric care network.

Dr. McCarthy earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Chicago. He is board certified in both emergency medicine and emergency medical services (EMS).

Prior to his current role, he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medical School. Additionally, he served as Chief of Emergency Medical Services for Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center. In these roles, he oversaw major clinical programs, including trauma and aeromedical services.

Dr. McCarthy is actively involved in regional and state emergency care leadership. He serves with the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council and the Texas Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council. Dr. McCarthy also serves as EMS Medical Director for the West University Place Fire Department and as a neurotrauma consultant to the National Football League.
