Emergency Medicine (EM) is partnering with Liaison International, creators of ResidencyCAS, which is the platform that OB/GYN transitioned to this cycle, to create an EM-specific application with the potential to implement this alternative platform in

She served as the Application Process Improvement Committee Chair from 2023-2024 and has remained an active leader in the committee since her term.

Sara Schulwolf, MD, MPH, received her MD and Masters in Public Health from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She is currently a first-year emergency medicine resident at the Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medical Residency (HAEMR) in Boston. Dr. Schulwolf currently serves as a member-at-large to SAEM's Resident and Medical Student (RAMS) Board and was previously a medical student representative. She has been liaison to the SAEM Research Committee as well as the Bylaws Committee over the past two years. -
Stephanie Balint, APRN

Ms. Stephanie Balint is a third-year medical student (M3) at Quinnipiac University, with a diverse and extensive background in emergency medicine (EM). Before embarking on her journey through medical school, Stephanie cultivated her passion for EM through her experiences as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), National Guard Healthcare Specialist, Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN), and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Her pre-medical school clinical experience in community centers allowed her to witness the power of cohesive teams and the importance of supporting one another in high-pressure environments.In her roles with SAEM and RAMS, Stephanie made significant contributions to the field of emergency medicine. She participated in didactics covering topics such as the Post-Roe Landscape of EM, the Management of APPs in the ED, and Moral Injury, while also working on research related to workforce trends. Her efforts resulted in the publication of several articles, including four Pulse pieces. However, her most cherished role involved connecting fellow students to research opportunities, mentorship, and committee work, ensuring that those with interest or limited access could still find meaningful engagement in the EM community. -
Liza Smith, MD

Liza Smith, MD, attended Medical School at Boston University School of Medicine and completed residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency program through Mass General Brigham. Since graduating from residency, she has been academic faculty at UMass Chan School of Medicine - Baystate Medical Center where she serves as an Associate Program Director and Clerkship Director. She has previously served as Chair of CORD ASCEM and is the immediate past chair of CORD APIC with ongoing commitment to improving student advising resources and the application process.
