Lead, Engage, Inspire: Exploring Leadership Opportunities at SAEM

Leadership at SAEM took many forms, with opportunities for members at every stage of their careers to get involved, develop their leadership skills, and help shape the future of academic emergency medicine. The SAEM Nominating Committee hosted an engaging panel discussion featuring SAEM leaders who shared their personal leadership journeys, how they first became involved, the opportunities that helped them grow, and the impact their SAEM leadership experiences had on their careers. From committees and academies to elected leadership positions, panelists highlighted the many pathways to leadership within SAEM, offered advice on taking that first step, and encouraged members to consider how their own experiences and perspectives could contribute to the organization.

With SAEM leadership nominations open through November 6, 2026, the webinar provided an opportunity to explore available leadership pathways, gain insight into the nomination process, and discover how to take the next step in an SAEM leadership journey. Whether attendees were considering their first leadership role or looking for new ways to contribute, the discussion emphasized that leadership at SAEM began with getting involved.
