Join us for the semi-annual Medical Education Journal Club! We will be reviewing the article, Pre- and Post-Pandemic Trends in Emergency Medicine Resident Attrition by Drs. Ketterer, Grossestreuer, Lewis. This article will be presented by Dr. Kelsey Vargas.

    Kelsey Vargas, MD, completed residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital and Medical Education fellowship at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. She is now MS3 clerkship director for the Case Western Reserve University students rotating through the emergency department and the Director of Education for the Emergency Medicine Quality Network of University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. Her areas of interest are faculty development and medical education research studies surrounding emotional intelligence.
  • Andrew Ketterer, MD, MA

    Andrew Ketterer, MD, MA

    Associate Residency Program Director

    Northwestern University Emergency Medicine

    Andrew Ketterer, MD, MA, is an attending physician in emergency medicine (EM). He serves as associate residency program director at Northwestern University Emergency Medicine (NUEM). He completed his residency and chief residency year at NUEM, followed by a one-year fellowship in medical education research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and he was assistant and associate residency program director at BIDMC from 2018-2024. Dr. Ketterer obtained a Master of Arts in Medical Humanities and Bioethics concurrently with his MD at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. His academic interests lie in medical education and firearm injury reduction. Dr. Ketterer has also served as an executive board member, editor, and author for Foundations of Emergency Medicine, an online educational curriculum targeting resident learners in emergency medicine. This curriculum is currently being used by over 200 emergency medicine training programs around the world.

    Jason J. Lewis, MD

    Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine

    Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

    Dr. Jason Lewis is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School and attending physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Lewis completed his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency in 2014 followed by a fellowship in Medical Education at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2015. He currently serves as the director of the Emergency Bootcamp and associate clerkship director. He is passionate about medical education, with a particular focus on undergraduate medical education.
