Morgan C. Broccoli, MD, MPH, MSc
Brigham and Women's Hospital
Biography
I am running for GEMA member-at-large. I am currently a second year global EM fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, have my MPH from Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, and completed residency at Boston Medical Center. I have worked extensively with the African Federation for Emergency Medicine, and more recently with the WHO. I served as the resident representative for GEMA from 2018-2019, and have served on the board of the American Friends of AFEM since its inception.
I am running for a position as a member-at-large because I hope to increase the cohesion and collaboration between US global emergency medicine societies. There have been multiple excellent initiatives in the last several years from the US global emergency medicine societies, such as EMRA’s “GEMS LP” mentorship program and journal club, and GEMFC’s fellow didactic series. I would like to make sure that GEMA members are aware of, and participate in, these programs. I also think that GEMA can serve as a resource for those looking for global projects, or those who have a project that they could use more help with. If elected, I would like to create a message board where people can post current projects that have specific personnel needs, and to which those looking for new projects can refer and apply. This should not be limited to US-based physicians – I envision a webpage where anyone looking for assistance with an emergency care project can post.
