Biography
Mary E. Tanski, MD, MBA, is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University.
Dr. Tanski earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and her medical degree from Wayne State University. She completed her emergency medicine residency at George Washington University, where she served as chief resident. She later completed an emergency medicine administration fellowship and earned a Master of Business Administration at Oregon Health & Science University.
Her work focuses on emergency department operations and quality improvement, with an emphasis on patient flow, no-divert initiatives, and reducing departmental boarding. She is actively involved in education, including teaching health care operations and quality.
Dr. Tanski previously served as medical director of operations and has held multiple leadership roles within her department prior to being appointed chair.
