Laura Oh, MD

Biography
Dr. Oh is an associate professor of emergency medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Virginia. Dr. Oh further specialized by completing an ultrasound fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center.
In her leadership roles, Dr. Oh developed and directed a four-year vertically integrated ultrasound curriculum at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She served as the ultrasound director for the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center's emergency department and currently holds the position of director of residency emergency ultrasound at Emory University.
Dr. Oh is the principal investigator of a Department of Defense-funded clinical trial investigating the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in cases of blunt abdominal trauma. Within the Academy for Emergency Ultrasound, she chairs the SAEMMIES Research Awards Committee, mentors researchers through the AEUS Grant Development Program, and contributes as a station lead for SonoGames content.
Dr. Oh’s professional interests encompass educational innovation, emerging technologies, ultrasound research, and faculty development. In recognition of her contributions to medical education, Dr. Oh received the National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians in 2024.
