Emergency Medicine Research Career Development Program in the Neurological Sciences

A notice of intent to publish funding opportunity announcement has already been published, and the formal funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is expected in mid-April. This will be a national K12 program intended to provide junior EM faculty at any institution that has an ED with the time, mentorship, and research experience to develop a robust, funded research program.

Although the grant will be based at a single academic institution, the program will be overseen not only by one or more principal investigators (PIs) but also by a National Advisory Committee (NAC) that must be diverse in all respects. The PI(s) and NAC together will participate in candidate recruitment, selection and mentoring, candidate pipeline development, and the running of an annual meeting for the program.

There will be a single application funded, which will be selected through a competitive application process that will be detailed in the upcoming FOA. The anticipated deadline for K12 application submission is mid-June. The FOA is expected to be similar to that of the Neurosurgeon Research Career Development Program (NRCDP).

Presenter
Stephen Korn
Director, NINDS Office of Training and Workforce Development

Dr. Korn has designed multiple national K12 programs and will oversee the EMRCDP-NS as NINDS Program Director. He will outline the goals, expectations, requirements, and operational parameters of the program and be available for questions.
