2021 SAEMF Education Project Grant - $20,000

"Climbing the Learning Curve in Ocular Point-of-Care-Ultrasound Interpretation”

Ocular point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS) has significant value in gathering critical information for high-stakes diagnoses in the emergency department (ED), especially when assessing children in whom fundoscopy is difficult to perform. Since the ocular pathology rate is low in children, it may take years for individual physicians to get sufficient exposure to abnormal case presentations to develop competency in ocular POCUS interpretation. Thus, the main goal of this grant is to develop and evaluate a learning and assessment intervention for pediatric ocular POCUS interpretation.
