The Nate Kuppermann Mentorship in Research Award
Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding mentorship and sustained contributions to the development of mentees in pediatric emergency medicine research.
Eligibility
- Nominee must be a current SAEM & APEM member
- Previous recipients are ineligible for future nomination for this award
- Associate level faculty strongly preferred; full professors also eligible
Criteria
- Quality and quantity of publications with identified mentees
- Federal funding with mentees in leadership roles
- Independent federal funding of mentees’ work
- Quantity and quality of mentees’ publications
The Marianne Gausche-Hill Mentorship in Education Award
Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional mentorship and impact in education and teaching within pediatric emergency medicine.
Eligibility
- Nominee must be a current SAEM & APEM member
- Previous recipients are ineligible for future nomination for this award
- Associate level faculty strongly preferred; full professors also eligible
Criteria
- Supporting mentees in course development and advancement
- Collaboration with mentees on development of innovative instructional techniques or materials
- Inclusion of mentees in scholarly educational work (e.g., education research, textbooks/chapters, reviews, other contributions to teaching science)
- Mentee educational presentations at regional, national, or international meetings
- Mentees awarded grants supporting education or education research
- Sustained excellence in didactic and/or bedside teaching, as evidenced by local, regional, and/or national awards
- Mentor recognition or awards from students, residents, or peers
The Rising Star Award
Recognizes an early-career PEM leader who has demonstrated an exceptional trajectory and commitment to pediatric emergency medicine through clinical excellence, education, research, advocacy, service, or quality improvement.
Eligibility
- Nominee must be a current SAEM & APEM member
- Nominee must be 10 years or fewer from completion of residency or fellowship training (EM or Pediatrics residency; PEM or other fellowship)
- Previous recipients are ineligible for future nomination for this award
Criteria
- Strong evidence of an emerging regional or national trajectory in pediatric emergency care
- Commitment to the field through scholarship, teaching, advocacy, service, or quality improvement
- Contributions and leadership at the local, regional, and/or national level
