Recognizing Excellence in RAMS Residents and Medical Student Research through Distinguished Scholarship and Award Opportunities
SAEMF is grateful to David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP for his visionary gift that has made it possible to offer these scholarships in perpetuity.
About the Scholarships
- Selection: All applicants to the SAEMF RAMS Medical Student and Resident Grants will be automatically considered for these scholarships, which will be awarded to the highest scoring application for the SAEMF RAMS Medical Student and for the SAEMF RAMS Resident Research Grants, as identified by SAEMF and its Grants Committee. These distinguished grantees will be honored as The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Medical Student Endowed Scholarship recipient and The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Resident Endowed Scholarship recipient.
- Amount: Each scholarship is valued at $1,250 and should be used to supplement the grant awarded.
- Awards: The scholarships will be offered in conjunction with the annual grant application cycle.

New! We are pleased to announce additional opportunities for the recipients of The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Endowed Scholarships, thanks to his continued generosity.
Beginning with the 2027 cycle, the recipient of The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Resident Endowed Scholarship will also receive The SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Future EM Leaders Endowed Travel Award to help support their attendance at the EMF–SAEMF Grantee Workshop (invitation extended during the first year of award). This invitation-only workshop provides early-career investigators the opportunity to present research, engage with NIH leaders, and advance their professional development. The recipient will receive additional details with their award notification
The recipient of The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Medical Student Endowed Scholarship will also receive the SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Medical Student Ambassador (MSA) Endowed Scholarship. This opportunity supports participation as a Medical Student Ambassador at the SAEM’s Annual Meeting during the recipient’s award year, equipping them with invaluable skills, connections, and exposure to cutting-edge research and innovation. Details of the MSA program are available at saem.org. The recipient will receive additional details with their award notification.
