Dr. Michelle Blanda, longtime SAEM member and SAEMF donor, established this grant to support advancing research in geriatric emergency medicine, with a focus on improving outcomes and quality of care for older adults in emergency settings. This

Mrs. Margene Henry and the Henry Family established the SAEMF's Dr. Gregory
L. Henry / RAMS Resident Research Grant in 2025 to continue Greg's legacy of supporting resident education, mentorship, and inspiring the next generation of emergency medicine physicians to pursue careers in education and research. This $5,000 grant, which will be awarded beginning with the 2026-27 grant cycle, focuses on self-limited research projects that are impactful in the current or future practice of emergency medicine and can be completed in a one-year time frame. Projects may include educational research. The goals of the applicants' grants will align with the mission of SAEMF to improve the emergency care of patients and help emergency physicians develop the skills to become successful investigators. This special Ali and Danielle Raja RAMS Medical Student research grant was created to encourage more medical students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in academic emergency medicine research. It provides $2,500 over a one-year period starting July 1 to foster interest in emergency medicine research among medical students. The focus is on self-limited research that may include educational research projects. A preference will be given to projects that address research questions related to emergency department (ED) operations; ED administration; health equity; social determinants of health (SDoH); or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in emergency medicine. - The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Endowed Scholarships for RAMS Resident and Medical Student Grants - Exemplifying his passion for resident and medical student research, and the belief that engaging them early in emergency medicine is the key to a career in academic emergency medicine, these
annual scholarships of distinction award $1,250 to the highest scoring RAMS Resident and RAMS Medical Student Research Grant recipients annually. - The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) Endowed Grant - Through this scholarship, Dr. Wilcox hopes to provide a transformational experience for future academic emergency medicine leaders, equipping them with invaluable skills, connections, and exposure to cutting-edge research and innovation. This grant is awarded to the highest scoring application for EMIG grants, as identified by SAEMF and reviewers, each year.
- The SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Medical Student Ambassador (MBA) Endowed Scholarship - Each year, the recipient of The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Medical Student Endowed Scholarship will also receive the SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Medical Student Ambassador (MSA) Endowed Scholarship. The SAEM MSA Program provides medical students with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to actively contribute to and engage in the SAEM Annual Meeting. Operating within SAEM's Program Committee, MSAs play an integral role in the smooth execution of the conference by coordinating and facilitating various events, including didactics, poster sessions, and oral presentations. Additionally, MSAs benefit from exclusive educational sessions and mentorship from leading academic emergency medicine faculty nationwide.
- The SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Future EM Leaders Endowed Travel Award - The recipient of The David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP RAMS Research Grant Resident Endowed Scholarship will also receive The SAEMF / David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP Future EM Leaders Endowed Travel Award. This distinguished award enables participation in the annual EMF/SAEMF Grantee Workshop. The travel award provides a meaningful leadership development experience by paving the way for recipients to present their research, engage with peers and mentors, and connect with program officers from NIH and other funding sources.
