As academic emergency medicine physicians, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to shape the future of healthcare by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in our field. Joining the Academy for Diversity & Inclusion in Emergency Medicine (ADIEM) is a powerful way to reignite our commitment to these vital pillars.
ADIEM offers a platform for professionals dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for patients, students, and physicians, promoting diverse leadership and advancing health equity across our community. By becoming a member, you gain access to invaluable resources and networking opportunities, contribute to a collective effort to break down systemic barriers, and create a healthcare system that reflects and serves the diverse communities we care for.
Join ADIEM
SAEM members are eligible to join academies, like ADIEM, FOR FREE as part of your SAEM dues. While it doesn't change what you owe, the number of members does change the amount of funding academies like ADIEM receive to carry out their mission. Joining ADIEM is a win-win situation!
Membership Competition
We're bringing a little friendly competition into the mix. The region that increases its membership by the largest percentage prior to the SAEM Annual Meeting (SAEM25) in May will be recognized at the ADIEM business meeting. Let's reclaim and expand our membership while renewing our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion! Together, we can drive meaningful change and inspire the next generation of leaders in emergency medicine.
What We Do
- Provide collaboration, community building, and networking opportunities through various subcommittees targeting member interests, including: education, social media, accommodations, membership, nominations and awards, LGBTQ+ members and resources, residents/medical students and trainees, clinical operations, and more.
- Host targeted webinars on a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and topics.
- Offer opportunities for scholarship, mentorship, and leadership.
How to Get Involved

- Author a Pulse submission that is ADIEM-sponsored
- Host a journal club
