Tips for Successful Visa Applications
- Apply early. Submit your application at least three to four months before your planned travel date to allow time for processing or reapplication if needed.
- Prepare for an interview. If an in-person interview is required, dress professionally and bring all supporting documents.
- Provide a letter of invitation. Include an official letter from the SAEM Annual Meeting organizer.
- Show professional affiliation. When possible, include proof of scientific or educational status, professional society membership, and/or meeting registration. (If you register for the annual meeting and your visa is later denied, SAEM will refund your registration fee.)
- Demonstrate ties to your home country. Applicants must show evidence of permanent residence or strong professional, financial, or family ties that indicate an intention to return home.
- Submit a complete itinerary. Present your full travel plan, including visits to other countries before or after the meeting.
- Meet all eligibility requirements. All applicants must qualify for a visa under the Immigration and Nationality Act based on their own merits.
- Visa Waiver Program. Citizens or nationals of participating countries may travel to the United States for business or tourism for up to 90 days without a visa. For details, visit the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs.
