Guidelines

The Program Committee has developed SAEM26 Properly Formatted Abstracts to help you develop your abstract submission(s). It provides specific guidance on:

  • Title
  • Author
  • Character Limit (2050 characters)
  • Sections

A structured abstract is required and should be organized into four sections:

  • Background
  • Method
  • Results
  • Conclusion

Additional sections/headings are not supported in the abstract submission platform. In addition, do not try to format your submission within the platform, such as using bullets, different fonts, page alignment, spacing, etc. This type of additional formatting is not supported and when your submission is exported for the abstract scorers, it may appear jumbled and unreadable.

Note that tables, figures, and illustrations are not permitted in SAEM26 abstract submissions.

Abstract acceptance letters will be sent to submitters February 9, 2026.

Prepare a Successful Abstract Submission (Webinar)

This webinar recording, presented by Drs. Nick Mohr and Colin Greineder, provides tips for writing an abstract. (When referenced in the recording, please be aware that SAEM has changed submission platforms from Cadmium to Open Water for SAEM26).

This webinar, intended for residents and medical students, offers expert guidance on preparing a high-quality abstract for SAEM26 and developing a competitive grant application. The session features presentations by Lauren Diercks, MD; Juliet Jacobson, MD; Colin Greineder, MD, PhD; Paul I. Musey, Jr., MD, MSc; and Elizabeth Burner, MD, MPH, PhD.

SAEM26 Disclosure Form

The ACCME requires all individuals in a position to control the content of a certified CME activity to disclose all commercial financial relationships occurring within the past 24 months.

All SAEM26 presenters are required to submit a Disclosure of Relationships with Commercial Interests, which may be completed through the speaker portal.

If you have questions or need assistance accessing your speaker portal, please contact the SAEM Education Department.
