Overview

Great ideas deserve to be shared — and experienced. Didactic sessions bring together educators, innovators, and learners to explore the latest advances, evidence, and perspectives shaping academic emergency medicine. Through engaging formats—including lectures, panels, flipped classrooms, and small group discussions—these sessions inspire meaningful learning and discussion across a broad range of topics and career stages. Whether you're submitting a proposal or planning your SAEM27 experience, didactics are your opportunity to Share. Inspire. Advance.

Submission Guidelines

Didactic sessions should deliver timely, engaging, and practice-changing content that advances academic emergency medicine and supports SAEM's mission of education, research, and professional development.

Choose the format that best fits your content:

  • Focused Session (20 minutes): Ideal for concise, high-impact presentations, typically featuring one or two speakers.
  • Expanded Session (50 minutes): Best for interactive, in-depth learning experiences such as panels, seminars, or facilitated discussions. Requests for this format should include a clear rationale.

Strong proposals feature innovative ideas, meaningful audience engagement, and clear educational value. We encourage submissions across all areas of academic emergency medicine—including clinical care, research, medical education, administration, and emerging topics of broad interest to the SAEM community.

Your submission should include:

  • Description (300 words max): Background, rationale, and key topics.
  • Didactic Plan (150 words max): Session format, structure, audience interaction, and use of time.

Before submitting, review your proposal for clarity, completeness, and accuracy.
