Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social (IGSS), Guatemala City, Guatemala: This site hosts one of the first Emergency Medicine residencies in Guatemala. It is the location for the annual UC Workshop on Simulation and Clinical Debriefing, which is the first Spanish-language simulation-based workshop for various medical specialists in the region. Fellows gain experience in cross-cultural simulation education and EM systems development in a middle-income-country tertiary care setting.
Rosales National Hospital (San Salvador, El Salvador) and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (Tegucigalpa, Honduras): These active affiliations support nascent Emergency Medicine residencies with a recent focus on ultrasound and clinical skills training. They offer experience in resource-constrained acute care and point-of-care ultrasound-based capacity building.
Maya Health Alliance, Boca Costa, Guatemala: In partnership with UC/Christ Family Medicine, this site involves work in the Western highlands of Guatemala. Fellows help provide longitudinal primary care, urgent care, and care coordination for complex patients.
