Summary: The Global Health and Leadership Program (GHLP) in the UNC Emergency Department prepares future leaders in Global Health and Emergency Medicine to improve the delivery of Emergency Care in underserved areas of the world.  Training and experience necessary for advancing Emergency Care can be accelerated through our specialized fellowship training. Fellows will develop expertise in research, education and clinical care in resource-limited settings. EM fellowship trained physicians will be prepared for leadership positions within Academic Emergency Medicine and International Health Organizations.  The fellowship is 24 months in length and will be composed of the following activities: 
 
Education, Training and Networks
·      Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health
·      Health Emergencies in Large Populations (HELP) training course or similar
·      National and/or International Meeting Attendance at ACEP, SAEM and ICEM
·      Leadership positions in the Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA) 
·      Focused Mentorship
 
Global Health and Emergency Care Development in East Africa
·      Extended (~7 months) abroad for clinical care and scholarly projects
·      Direct clinical care in Resource Limited Settings
·      Capacity building through research and Emergency Care training
·      Multi-disciplinary international collaborations
 
Clinical and Teaching Excellence
·      Academic and Community Clinical Practice
·      Junior Faculty Role and Requirements
·      Resident and Medical Student Education
