Institutional Research Training Grant - The Research Training Grant is intended to identify and fund centers of excellence to train Emergency Medicine research fellows.

 

Research Training Grant - To provide support to emergency physicians for two years of concentrated training in research methods and concepts.

 

Emergency Medicine Medical Student Interest Group Grants - These grants provide funding of $500 each to help support the educational or research activities of emergency medicine medical student organizations at U.S. medical schools.

 

EMS Research Fellowship Grant - The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine strives to foster teaching, education, and research in emergency medicine. This Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provides an opportunity for a qualified emergency physician to acquire important skills and begin to develop expertise as part of an academic career with a focus in emergency medical services.

 

SAEM/ACMT Michael P. Spadafora Tox. Scholarship - Scholarship fund to encourage Emergency Medicine residents to pursue Medical Toxicology fellowship training. One recipient is chosen each year to receive funds to allow them to attend the North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology (NACCT) conference, which is held in different locations every fall.

 

SAEM/EMPSF Patient Safety Research Grant - This grant, sponsored by The Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Foundation, awards $75,000 over a 12 month period to enhance the development of an emergency medicine patient safety researcher. Additionally, funds are provided for the recipient to participate in the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) / National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship.

 

EMF/SAEM Medical Student Research Grant - This grant program is sponsored by the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM). A maximum of $2,400 over three months is available for a medical student to encourage research in emergency medicine.

Hal Jayne Academic Excellence Award

The Hal Jayne Academic Excellent Award is presented to a member of SAEM who has made outstanding contributions to emergency medicine through research, education and scholarly accomplishments.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is presented to a member of SAEM who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in academic emergency medicine.

Young Investigator Award - The purpose of the Young Investigator award is to recognize and encourage emergency physicians/scientists of junior academic rank who have a demonstrated commitment to research as evidenced by academic achievement and qualifications.

 

2007 Winners: Steven Bird, MD; D. Mark Courtney, MD; and Edbert Hsu, MD

 

Medical Student Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award - This award is made available to each medical school to select a senior medical student who has demonstrated excellence in the specialty of emergency medicine. Each medical school is limited to one recipient each year.
