A Space to Pause, Reset, and Restore

Amid the energy of the SAEM Annual Meeting, The Oasis offers something essential: a moment to step away. Designed with the realities of academic emergency medicine in mind, it acknowledges the cognitive load, emotional strain, and constant motion of both clinical work and conference participation. This is a purposefully different environment—conversation-free (except during designated sessions), screen-free, and free of meetings or distractions—created to help you pause, recalibrate, and return renewed, supporting resilience, sustained performance, and professional longevity. Every element of The Oasis is intentionally designed to restore. 

Spaces to Restore and Recenter

Subtly defined areas offer low-pressure ways to reset:

  • Quiet Seating: Soft seating, warm lighting, nature sounds, and herbal tea for rest or reflection

  • Reflection & Gratitude: Contribute to a Gratitude Board or participate in an Encouragement Exchange

  • Creative Reset: Coloring, mandalas, and water painting for meditative engagement

  • Tactile Grounding: Simple sensory tools like zen gardens

  • Guided Breathing: A gentle breathing light to help regulate between sessions

Airway, Breathing, Circulation… DisAbility: Dynamic Movements for the EM Body

Tuesday, May 19 | 8 – 9 a.m.

An interactive, PT-informed session focused on mobility, stability, and injury prevention for emergency medicine clinicians. Participants will gain practical techniques to support both personal wellness and patient care.

Therapy Dog Sessions

Wednesday, May 20 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Sponsored by Grady Health Atlanta, these sessions offer time with certified therapy dogs—proven to reduce stress and support emotional well-being. A calm, supervised setting ensures a restorative experience.
