How does DJing help you manage stress, achieve work-life balance, and/or contribute to your overall health and well-being?
My name is Joffre Johnson, also known when performing as "DJ On Call." Residency is tough, especially in a field as hectic as Emergency Medicine where physician burnout has been measured at high rates. It is important to find ways to decompress and remain human after shifts that can sometimes be very physically and emotionally taxing. Music has always been an integral part of my life ever since I've been old enough to sing. I know everyone has that one song in mind that helps them lift their spirits, turn up, turn down, unwind, or just generally make them feel great about life. Practicing my scratches and beat juggling are relaxing and keep my hands busy. It's awesome to see how the vibe of a crowd of people can instantly change when they hear a great song.
