DETROIT MEDICAL CENTER
The International Emergency Medicine Fellowship is a new and welcomed addition to our academic and humanitarian mission here at the Detroit Medical Center. In affiliation with Wayne State University, our goal is to offer our fellows the opportunities and relationships to explore all aspects of International Emergency Medicine, including global and urban health. Our one or two year program excels at fostering diverse collaborations and opportunities that will help you establish life-long partnerships and skill sets.

Fellowship Experience
The clinical core of our program is working at the Detroit Medical Center in a busy, urban clinical environment that will allow you to continue to improve your EM skills while teaching medical students and residents of our two EM programs.
In addition to our multiple World Health Student Organization international sites, you will be able to get involved at the global hubs where our faculty are collaborating to develop EM capacity building, research and community engagement:

Fellowship Curriculum
- Masters in Public Health at Wayne State School of Public Health
- ICRC Health Emergencies in Large Populations (HELP) course or equivalent
- Tropical Medicine course at CMC Vellore
- Monthly engagement with our strong Ultrasound Fellowship
- Interdepartmental Journal Club with our Infectious Disease department
- Language proficiency; manual transmission driving and motorbike riding skills

Guatemala |
We've been involved with everything EM in Guatemala: the first 2 residency programs, the 1st EM conference and the creation of the Guatemalan EM Association (www.agme.org.gt). Dr. Daniel Ridelman, our APD and a Guatemalan native himself, is the ACEP Deputy Ambassador for the country.

Besides assisting in the development of EM residency programs, our research capacity building in India includes projects with Pardada Pardadi to improve rural health access

You have the opportunity to engage with our vibrant and new WSU Global Health Alliance, an interdisciplinary collaborative led by our faculty that includes our GLUE (Global and Urban Health and Equity) curriculum, our Global Health Research Center, our Annual Global Health Conference and local advocacy.
