2022 SAEMF/CDEM Innovations in Undergraduate Emergency Medicine Education Grant - $5,000
"Healthy Equity Education: Hands-on Training for EM Clerkship Students through Simulation"
Through her 2022 SAEMF/CDEM Innovations in Undergraduate Emergency Medicine Education Grant, Dr. Carey proposes to design and implement a curriculum for EM clerkship students on health equity topics. The curriculum will take place through simulated clinical encounters followed by debriefing sessions. These sessions will provide learners with tools they need to recognize important factors in patients’ care and to thoroughly assess and treat patients in the clinical setting to help overcome health disparities.
