Virtual Presenter Instructions

Below please find instructions for recording and submitting your various sessions. Submissions will be accepted until August 1, 2020. Please record your presentation and upload it to the SAEM YouTube channel or to the e-poster gallery using the instructions below. SAEM will disseminate the presentation to over 24,000 followers on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The keynote addresses and plenary abstracts will be live-streamed online May 12-15, 2020. Please visit www.saem.org/saem20 for an up-to-date schedule of live presentations. All other presentations will be disseminated throughout the rest of the year.

Create Your Didactic, Oral/Lightning Abstract, or Oral Innovation Presentation

  1. Download the PowerPoint Template.
    • You are welcome to alter the background graphics and formatting of this template as you wish.  To hide the background graphics to create blank, white slides
      • Click “Format” in the upper toolbar
      • Select “Slide Background” in the drop-down
      • Check the “Hide Background Graphics” box
    • In order for your video to be viewed with the best quality, the video must be in 16:9 format
  2. Once you have completed  your presentation, record yourself presenting.  This can be done via Zoom, your computer, or your institution's studio.  As a reminder the maximum length for recordings are listed below:
    • Didactics:  Maximum length is 50 or 20 minutes long
    • Oral Abstracts:  Maximum length is 10 minutes
    • Lightning Abstracts:  Maximum length is 6 minutes
    • Oral Innovations:  Maximum length is 7 minutes
  3. Save your presentation as a .MOV, .MP4, and .WMV
    • The name of your file should be the same as your presentation title 

Create Your IGNITE! Presentation

  1. Download the IGNITE! PowerPoint Template. You must use this template as the timing is built into the presentation.  The template contains 1 blank title slide and 20 blank content slides, which will  automatically advance every 15 seconds.  PLEASE DO NOT DELETE ANY SLIDES OR ALTER THE TIMING MECHANISM.
    • You are welcome to alter the background graphics and formatting of this template as you wish.   To hide the background graphics to create blank, white slides
      • Click “Format” in the upper toolbar
      • Select “Slide Background” in the drop-down
      • Check the “Hide Background Graphics” box
    • In order for your video to be viewed with the best quality, the video must be in 16:9 format
  2. Once you have completed  your presentation, record yourself presenting.  As a reminder, you have exactly 5 minutes to present 20 slides (not counting the title slide).
    • Click on “Slide Show” in upper toolbar
    • Select “Record Slide Show” from the drop down 
    • In the pop-up; Microsoft PowerPoint” would like to access the microphone, click “OK
    • Begin speaking
  3. After saving your powerpoint presentation,
    • Click “File” in the upper toolbar
    • Select “Export” from the drop-down
    • In the “Export As” box, name of your file which should be the same as your presentation title 
  4. In the “File Format” drop-down list, select the video format MP4 or MOV.

Upload Your Didactic, Oral/Lightning Abstract, Oral Innovation or IGNITE! Presentation

  1. Go to www.YouTube.com
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click “Sign In Signinusing the username and password below
  3. At the top right, click on the video symbolVideo
  4. Select “Upload Video” from the drop-down
  5. Select the file you’d like to upload
  6. Enter the details for your video.
    • Title: The name of your presentation
    • Description: Please leave blank, SAEM will go back and fill this in for you
    • Thumbnail: This should be the title slide of your presentation
    • Playlists: Select the presentation type you are uploading

      • SAEM20 Didactics
    • Audience: Select “No, it's not made for kids”
  7. Click “Next” twice
  8. Under Save or publish, select “Public” and “Publish

  9. In the upper right hand corner, click on the  and select “Sign Out” from the drop-down

Upload Your ePoster Presentation

  1. Presenting authors should have already received an email with a unique login from CadmiumCD to upload their ePoster to the ePoster Gallery. 
    • The email is from education@saem.org and the subject is “SAEM20 Virtual Meeting ePoster
    • Only the author labeled as the presenting author will receive the email. Please email education@saem.org if you need to change the presenting author.
