Janhigen Career Development Award

The Dennis W. Jahnigen Career Development Award is a companion award to the GEMSSTAR, which provides up to $25,000 annually to GEMSSTAR grantees for professional development. This award is funded by the SAEM Foundation, the Emergency Medicine Foundation, the American Geriatrics Society, and the John A. Hartford Foundation.


The Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program awards medical students) short term scholarships (typically for the summer after the first year) to conduct research and gain exposure to academic geriatrics. The program is dministered by the American Federation for Aging Research and the National Institute on Aging.
