Seeking CME Editor Applicants till 15 January 2010

NOTICE TO ALL Academic Emergency Medicine Instructors:

AEM is beginning to plan a monthly CME feature for their readers and is soliciting applications for the new volunteer position of CME editor.  I thought among our group there might be people interested in this.  See the below documents for responsibilities and how to apply.  Experience  with CME is preferred. Writing the monthly questions will be a big part of this job, and I bet many of our academic peers have a lot of experience with question writing.

  Journal Based CME Overview

Dynamic Emergency Medicine to become online-only in January 2010

Effective with the January issue, Academic Emergency Medicine will be running Dynamic Emergency Medicine online only.  Several accepted submissions that are currently at the publisher will be run in print as before, but all future accepted DynEM papers will run online only. (note: This is a section of the AEM Journal.)

Academic Emergency Medicine Journal

Academic Emergency Medicine (AEM), established in 1994, is a peer-reviewed journal whose goal is to advance the science, education, and clinical practice of emergency medicine, to serve as a voice for the academic emergency medicine community, and to enhance the goals and objectives of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

One of the guiding principles of the journal is to serve the academic emergency medicine community by thoughtful and thorough peer-review. In 2004, AEM received 661 new submissions and 223 revisions for a total of 884 processed manuscripts with a decision made in 29.1 days (average) for new submissions in July - December, 2004. Despite the substantial number of high quality manuscripts, publication is generally possible within 6-7 months after final acceptance.

Academic Emergency Medicine is the official journal of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and has over 5,000 individual subscribers, plus access through medical libraries, universities, hospitals, and academic centers worldwide.

AEM had an ISI citation impact factor of 1.844 in 2003, which increased in 2004 to 1.898 -- a significant increase and a notable achievement for such a young journal. Substantial continued growth is anticipated, supported by an editorial board comprised of leading teachers and researchers.

The journal is published by Blackwell Publishing, and is now online (http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/aboutus/open_access_options.html). Each May issue of AEM is comprised of the abstracts of over 500 scientific presentations from the SAEM Annual Meetings.

Academic Emergency Medicine welcomes submissions from emergency physicians and related specialists from around the world. Full details are included below. Questions may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, editor@saem.org .

Important Notification

As of January 1, 2008 Academic Emergency Medicine  (AEM) changed to a new publisher. Our new home for online access to past journals as well as future submission is now with Wiley-Blackwell. This change will affect our online manuscript submission system. All new manuscript submissions must be submitted via our new system. This link will take you directly to the new online submission and peer review site: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/aemj for reviews and manscript revisions.
