The Venue

Once again, the meeting will be held at the Michigan League, one of the most lovely buildings on the University of Michigan campus. Construction of the League (Originally, the University of Michigan Women's League) was completed in 1929, and it has been a focal point for local and regional events ever since. Keynote Speaker	Jesse M. Pines, MD, MBA, MSCE is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a Senior Fellow in the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics. His primary research interests are in throughput, quality, and best practices for emergency care. His secondary research interests are diagnostic testing in the ED and how physicians perceive risk. In 2009, he was one of the recipients of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Young Investigator Award. He has been the recipient of several competitive foundation, federal, and industry grants from the Agency for Health Research and Quality, the Department of Homeland Security, the Emergency Medicine Foundation, the Institute on Aging at Penn, the Thomas McCabe Fund, the University Research Foundation, and Abbott Point-of-Care. He is author or more than 75 peer reviewed manuscripts and two books. He also contributes columns to Slate.com, the Wall Street Journal, and Emergency Physicians Monthly.
