|
- Overall goal: To promote the use and teaching of Evidence-based medicine by Emergency Department physicians.
- To prepare presentations at the next SAEM annual meeting that educate SAEM members about how to use Evidence-Based Medicine for the care of their patients and how to teach evidence-based medicine to the residents, students and fellows that they teach.
- Other ongoing activities outside of the annual meeting that promote the goals in 2. above. These include on-line courses for residents and attending physicians that help teach Evidence-Based Medicine principles and developing an Evidence-Based Medicine “tool box” for teaching medical students.
- Collaborative activities with other interest groups and their members whose goals are overlapping with ours. In particular, we are preparing for the consensus conference at the SAEM annual meeting in 2007 that will focus on “knowledge translation,” the process by which information in the scientific literature is put to use in patient care. We are already working with members of other interest groups who have expressed interest in helping develop this conference and wish to participate in it.
