Unique clinical or rotation experiences:3 four week elective blocks - off campus/ international electives can
be arranged; extensive pediatric experience including inpatient Peds, Peds EM, Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric ICU rotations; integration of Pediatric and Adult EM experience in PGY 3 and 4 years to allow residents to learn full pediatric case mix year round.

information access, and critical literature appraisal to emergency medicine residents and attending physicians (see
nypemergency.org); Two Day, 16-Hour Intensive Ultrasound Course for All Incoming Interns; Two Day Airway/Cadaver
Course for PGY 2 Residents; EMS Physician Base Station Course for PGY 3 Residents; 4-5 Procedure-Specific

Describe EMS experience:EMS experience with our own NewYork-Presbyterian EMS service, the largest
hospital-based 911 ambulance service in NYC; longitudinal experience over 3 years; EMS curriculum; Physician Base

Unique fellowship experiences: Three year fellowship, one fellow in each year.
The main goals of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Subspecialty Program are to produce clinicians who provide
compassionate, state of the art emergency care for children, academicians who are skilled in critical appraisal of the literature and research techniques, teachers and role models to other health care personnel and the community, and local and national leaders in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The majority of clinical time is spent in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Fellows directly supervise patient care, teaching both medical students and pediatric and emergency medicine residents, and gradually become responsible for managing the Pediatric Emergency Department. Each PEM fellow is expected to pursue meaningful scholarly activity. Additionally, fellows are encouraged to enroll in courses at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and we provide substantial time and financial support to attend courses

The goal of the fellowship is to build experts and leaders in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. The curriculum concentrates on all areas of academic and clinical pediatric emergency medicine, and emphasizes independent, evidence-based medical decision-making. NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell Medical Center offers a uniquely diverse clinical environment, with mentorship by highly respected experts in both pediatric and surgical subspecialties. The PEM resident will have the opportunity to achieve comprehensive training, to become a skilled clinician, educator, researcher, and administrator and to develop confidence in managing the most ill and injured children in a timely manner.

The fellowship will provide emergency medicine physicians the opportunity to obtain training in international emergency medicine, formal public health education, and in-field experience in international health. The fellowship seeks to prepare leaders in international health by developing academic, clinical, and administrative skills in international medicine. The collaborative effort between the NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) Department of Emergency Medicine and the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (MSPH) will allow the fellow to obtain a Masters of Pubic Health and develop specific expertise in international medical studies by working locally and abroad.
