The Academy of CDEM was voted in as a FULL Voting member of the Alliance for Clinical Education (ACE) on November 3rd, Monday at the AAMC meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
"Aside from working with the SAEM BOD to form CDEM and develop the Academy structure, this is the most important accomplishment for us to date and I believe this will further elevate CDEM, SAEM, and our specialty in the eyes of undergraduate medical education across the country for years to come" said David A. Wald, DO, CDEM Chair-elect.
ACE is a multidisciplinary group formed in 1992 to enhance clinical instruction of medical students.

The members of ACE include representatives of the following national organizations of clerkship directors:
- Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry
- (ADMSEP)
- Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO)
- Association for Surgical Education (ASE)
- Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM)
- Consortium of Neurology Clerkship Directors/American Academy of
- Neurology (CNCD)
- Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP)
- Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).
The Academy of CDEM is the first and only, non-founding member group to apply to become a member of ACE.
Our success and accomplishments to date continue to validate the SAEM Academy concept. We think that this would be a great opportunity to inform the general membership of this achievement, highlight the SAEM Academy model, and to notify the many medical student educators in our membership of the presence of the Academy of CDEM within SAEM.
