Non-SAEM Conferences on the SAEM Web Site

1. In order to provide an opportunity for the SAEM membership to have access to a wide variety of educational opportunities, SAEM invites organizations to submit information on conferences and meetings for posting on the SAEM web site.

2. Conference should be consistent with the SAEM mission of research and education in emergency medicine and should be of interest to SAEM members.

3. SAEM is not responsible for the content of the meetings and does not review them for content, quality, or educational value. The calendar and/or listings section will specifically note that “listing of the conference does not constitute an endorsement of the event by SAEM.”

4. Postings are limited to the title, dates, and location of the conference, along with a link to the organization's conference web site or an e-mail address for informational inquiries.

5. Requests will be reviewed by the Board of Directors or the Board's designee, to determine whether the conference should be posted on the SAEM web site.

6. Organizations that wish to submit their conferences for posting on the SAEM web site should send a request and the appropriate information to SAEM:

A. Constituent Groups:
Interest groups and task force members may, at times, have access to information relating to local and national meetings that are felt to be pertinent to the membership.  This information should pass through the interest group or taskforce chair, and with the approval of the board liaison be posted to the interest group/task force web page and to the SAEM meetings calendar without delay (e.g. A crowding taskforce member notes a local meeting related to ED overcrowding).

B. Individual Members:
Individual members may, at times, have access to information regarding local, regional, or national meetings that may pertain to the SAEM membership at large.  This information will be submitted to the communication’s committee chair and the committee board liaison for approval.  Pending that approval, immediate posting to the SAEM meetings calendar may occur (e.g.  A medical student notes a medical student sponsored emergency medicine city-wide conference that merits attention).

C. Outside Groups:
Outside groups that approach SAEM with the request to publicize a meeting fall into two categories:

a. Meetings co-sponsored by SAEM will be posted to the SAEM website either on the home page, appropriate interest group webpage, meetings calendar, or all of the above after the approval of the regional meeting taskforce chair and regional meeting board liaison.

b. Meetings that are not co-sponsored by SAEM will be passed to the communications chair and communications board liaison for approval and posting.  The assessment of a fee for advertisement will be at the discretion of the SAEM board.
