Describe how the residents meet the requirement of engage in scholarly activity: 
Residents meet every 6 months with a faculty member to discuss the progress of their chosen research project. Residents complete this project over the 3 years of training and are required to present the final project in June of their third year. Past projects have included original resident research and co-investigations with faculty projects.
Unique attributes: 
Strong critical care experience. Didactics take place every Thursday for four hours and include M&M, Case Conference, Journal Club review, Grand rounds, Guest speakers, Cadaver Labs and Simulation labs. Unique opportunities to experience rural EM practice in state-of-the-art rural facilities with outstanding rural EP supervision in North Platte, NE & Scottsbluff, NE. Nebraska Regional Poison Center director and associate director are both EM faculty. Outstanding opportunities for both basic science and clinical research within the EM department.

Weekly resident teleconference link to UNMC in place so residents can attend by distance learning. Housing supplied. Meals while working clinically supplied. Travel is reimbursed.

We have an orientation month where all EM1s will take BLS, ACLS, & PALS and attend a 2 day ultrasonography course. We will sponsor an EM text book of your choice. In addition to vacation, all residents will receive 5 days of professional leave to attend national conferences. The CME funds may be used to purchase learning materials as well as for travel expenses to national meetings. The residency pays the dues for EMRA, ACEP, and SAEM with the accompanying subscriptions to Annals of Emergency Medicine and Academic Emergency Medicine.
