Describe how the residents meet the requirement of engage in scholarly activity:
The Emergency Medicine Residency at NYP provides a broad spectrum of opportunities by which to fulfill the scholarly project requirement. In addition to a Research Commitee comprised of several Emergency Medicine faculty members with a diverse array of interests and experience, the residency boasts a full time research director, with a masters in biostatistics and a doctorate in epidemiology, who helps each resident navigate from study idea and design, to IRB application, to statitical analysis and, ultimately, publication. Several residents, some of whom have had previous international experience, others who have developed international interests during their training, have taken additionally advantage of the Global Emergency Medicine program, spearheaded by Dr. Stachit Balsari, a residency alumn and faculty member at Weill Cornell Medical College, through which they have developed scholarly projects in the areas of training, capacity building, disaster preparedness and humanitarian response. Whatever a particular resident's interest, NYP EM will facilitate its pursuit in the spirit of scholarly activity.
