Describe how the residents meet the requirement of engage in scholarly activity: 
Residents are expected to complete a scholarly activity project during their residency, which may include a research project. Divisional journal clubs and research seminars address the critical analysis of research on a regular basis.
Unique attributes: 
The Research Division of Emergency Medicine is a growing division with an eclectic mix of basic science, clinical, and health policy research. Five members of the EM faculty currently receive research funding in a wide range of topics, including neurosciences (stroke, TBI, intracerebral hemorrhage, seizures), cardiology, infectious disease (HIV surveillance, diagnostics, therapeutics), disaster training, ED operations. MUSC offers a wide range of degreed and non-degreed research training opportunities, including the MSCR program sponsored by the University’s CTSA award.
