We have a beautiful state-of-the-art new Center for Emergency Medicine which opened July 2011. This holds a 17 bed Level 1 Pediatric Emergency Department, a 14 bed Rapid Care Area and a 31 bed Adult Emergency Department. The adult department includes 3 trauma and resuscitation rooms, one of which is adjacent to our 320 slice MDCT Toshiba CT scanner. We have an intra-department laboratory, two SANE examination rooms, and one decontamination room with the largest fixed MCI decontamination shower in Northern Ohio. We are also the home of the Northern Ohio Poison Control Center. University Hospital Case Medical Center sits in the center of University Circle and is directly across the street from Severance Hall, the home of the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra. It also sits between the east and west campuses of Case Western Reserve University. We're blocks away from the Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Gardens and future home of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Close neighborhoods include Little Italy and Coventry. We are in viewing distance of the Frank Gehry designed CWRU - Peter B. Lewis Building housing the Weatherhead School of Management.

Membership provided in ACEP, EMRA, AAEM. We provide copy of Rosen's Textbook of Emergency Medicine, and Simon and Brenner's Procedures in Emergency Medicine. Residents are also given access to MD Challenger for Emergency Medicine during the duration of their residency. For travel to a national conference EM1's receive $250, EM2's receive $750, EM3's receive $1000 and chief residents (two) receive $1250. Presentation at a national conference reimbursed. Tuition support for all 3rd year residents to attend an emergency medicine board review course 5 hours of weekly teaching conferences comprised of topics in emergency medicine, morbidity and mortality, didactic, monthly to bi-monthly. Journal club reflecting an Evidence-Based Medicine, consensus conference style format for incorporating new information into the emergency physician’s practice, nationally recognized ethicist panelists review EM resident cases at a yearly emergency medicine ethics symposium each year developed by EM1’s, mock cases and simulations with developed scenarios and actors, develop and complete a CQI project. Several cadaver labs each year with expert EM faculty who developed both the old and new procedures in emergency medicine.
