Describe how the residents meet the requirement of engage in scholarly activity: 
Designated research and ample elective time. Full time research director, 16 hours per day 7 days a week of research assistants. Three areas of department research interest: Stroke, pediatrics, EMS and Diabetes Describe the how residents meet the requirement to engage in scholarly activity: All residents must work with a mentor to complete a research project. There is ample opportunity to involve oneself in original research or to join one of many existing faculty projects. In addition, the requirement may be met by publishing a case report or a chapter review. Finally, original concepts/plans developed to the point of IRB submission would meet research requirements.
