Membership Dues

Current SAEM Membership Rates

Active Membership

$575 - Individuals with an advanced degree such as MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, DSc or equivalent who hold a university appointment or are actively involved in emergency medicine. Active members are eligible to vote for proposed C&B amendments and to fill elected positions in the Society.

Associate Membership

$255 - PA/NP/EMT/RN/research coordinators/project managers, lay public and government officials.

Young Physician Year 1

$335 - First-year following residency graduation.

Young Physician Year 2

$475 - Second year following residency graduation.

Resident

$170 - Residents interested in Emergency Medicine.

Fellow

$170 - Fellows interested in Emergency Medicine.

Medical Student

$145 - Medical students interested in Emergency Medicine.

Faculty Group

$510 - Special Rate for pre-arranged institutional memberships. See Group Membership Discounts below.

Resident Groups

Emeritus

$120 - Emeritus membership is available to emeritus professors/physicians who have been consistent members of SAEM for more than 15 years.

International

Discounted dues could be available to international members, Please reference SAEM International Discount Rates to see if you qualify or contact membership@saem.org for details.

Academy Memberships 

$100 each
Residents, Fellows and Medical Students please reference your desired academey's web page for discounts.

Academy Group Membership

The following Academies participate in an academy group membership discount:

AWAEM, CDEM, AGEM, GEMA, AEUS

6-10 faculty members can join the same academy for $500. Membership must be submitted as one payment with designation of which academy the group will be participating in.

Interest Group Memberships 

The first Interest Group is free with any level of paid membership. Each additional Interest Group is $25.

Note that all categories of membership include membership in one Interest Group free of charge. When applying for membership, don’t forget to indicate your choice of free Interest Group membership on your application.

Group Membership Discounts

SAEM is pleased to offer two group membership discounts: faculty groups and residency groups can join at a 12% discounted rate.

The requirements for the Faculty Group Discount are as follows:

  • 100% of your institution's core faculty group must participate.
  • All dues must be paid by forwarding one check/credit card payment covering the total dues amount for all applicants to SAEM headquarters.
  • The Faculty Group membership discount rate is $510 per person.

 The requirements for the Residency Group Discount are as follows:

  • 80% of residents within the residency program must participate.
  • All dues must be paid by forwarding one check/credit card payment covering the total dues amount for all applicants to SAEM headquarters.
  • The Residency Group Membership discount rate is $145 per person.
