Policy on Sponsoring, Co-Sponsoring, and Endorsing Conferences

SAEM sponsors an Annual Meeting each spring and a number of regional meetings which arise from the combined efforts of Emergency Medicine residency programs across the U.S. The SAEM Regional Meetings are required to meet the guidelines approved by the Board of Directors.

On occasion, SAEM may co-sponsor meetings or conferences with another organization. In order for a meeting or program to be cosponsored by SAEM, the following criteria must be met:

  1. With rare exceptions requiring Board of Directors approval a complete proposal must be submitted at least 12 months in advance of the proposed meeting. Proposals should be submitted on the SAEM project proposal form.

  2. The proposal must include a detailed budget, timeline, educational objectives, proposed topics, and administrative plan including a planning committee.

  3. SAEM will not co-sponsor any meeting or conference which has been developed without significant representation from SAEM on the planning committee.
