Getting to Phoenix
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (Airport Code: PHX) is one of the 10 busiest airports in the United States and has been dubbed America’s Friendliest Airport. It is located about three miles southeast of downtown and offers free WIFI internet, 41 retail shops, 53 fast-food and sit-down restaurants, ATMs, electronics charging stations, Animal Relief Areas, Fear of Flying Classes (online and in-person), and free cell phone waiting lots. Sky Harbor also offers the PHX RESERVE program which has its own dedicated lane at the TSA Checkpoints, reducing the wait time for those who participate. It allows you to schedule a specific time for your departure TSA security screening. All you need to do is reserve your time and show up at your assigned checkpoint at your appointment time.

Driving directions
The airport’s central location offers easy access to I-10 and is located only a short drive from Downtown Phoenix and the hotel (5.2 mi). From Sky Harbor International Airport get on the I-10 W from Sky Harbor Blvd W (1.1 mi). Continue on I-10 W to N 7th St. Take the 145A exit from I-10 W keeping left at the fork, following signs for 7th St South and making a left hand turn (3.0 mi). Continue on 7th St until you reach Van Buren St and make a right turn (.8 mi). Continue on Van Buren St making a right on 3rd St (.3mi). The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is on your immediate left.
Rental cars
Twelve rental car companies operate at Sky Harbor International Airport. Travelers should check with their specific rental car company for hours of operation at the Airport Rental Car Center. If you are planning to rent a car at PHX Sky Harbor, be sure to make a reservation. Vehicles are limited for walk-up customers. The rental car facility can be reached by taking the PHX Sky Train®, an automated train that transports travelers between Valley Metro Rail at 44th and Washington streets, the East Economy Parking area, the airport terminals, the 24th Street PHX Sky Train Station, and the Rental Car Center. Trains arrive and depart every 3-5 minutes and operate 24 hours a day.

Public Transportation - Light Rail
Valley Metro Rail trains are quiet, air-conditioned and operate 18-22 hours per day, seven days a week — with average station wait times between 12 and 20 minutes. The system operates at street level and is powered by electricity from overhead wires. Consider downloading their app.
There are 38 stations along the line, and they are adorned with $8 million worth of public art. The artwork at each station reflects the character of the community where it is located. Station platforms can accommodate the boarding of 600 passengers onto a three-car train within 30 seconds.
- Fares for ages 19 - 64 years old are $2 a ride or $4 for a day pass.
- Reduced Fare (Ages 6-18, 65+, Medicare, people with disabilities) are $1 a ride and $2 for a day pass.
