Guidelines for Creating Your PowerPoint Presentation
- Assume that each slide will take a minimum of one minute to present
- Font size: minimum 24 point, preferably 36
- Limit the number of lines of text used per slide – easier for viewers.
- Color scheme: keep it simple. Usually no more than three colors. A dark background with light type is easier to read than a light background with dark type. Avoid using red.
- Background: use a simple background. Patterns that are often included with slide-making software can make the slide hard to read, and can be distracting to the viewer.
You are allowed ten minutes for your presentation, followed by five minutes of questions. A moderator is present to keep strict attention to the time and facilitate the order of
presentations.
Guidelines for Using LCD Projection
LCD projection will be available for the SAEM Annual Meeting. It is extremely
important that all presenters follow these guidelines in order to ensure a successful
session.
- Presenters are not allowed to use their own laptops; presenters must use the laptops supplied by the hotel.
- Presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint version 2000 or newer that can run on Windows. Macintosh format will not be available.
- Presentations must be brought to the session on a CD or flash drive.
- You must arrive 15 minutes early to your session.
- Presenters, please bring your CD/flash drive to your assigned session room between 7:30 and 8:00 am for morning presentations and during the lunch break for afternoon presentations for loading to the session laptop.
