LIGHTNING ORAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Lightning oral presentations were a resounding success at previous SAEM annual meetings, and have been brought back for 2013. This abbreviated oral presentation format is designed to be lively and
informative, while promoting interaction among investigators, moderators, and the
audience.

While each presentation will have a five-minute time limit and needs both title and
disclosure slides, there are no other explicit requirements. The disclosure slide should
incorporate the standard SAEM oral presentation content.

Although the number of slides and the amount of content on each slide are completely at your discretion, we would advocate a simplified approach. The audience will want to hear about your most
meaningful conclusions without being bogged down in the (no doubt interesting) minutiae. Please note that the schedule is tight and the five-minute limit is firm. You will be given a one-minute visual warning. Moderators will be asked to cut you off if your time limit is exceeded.

Moderators will have two minutes to comment on the study, ask questions of the investigator,
and field questions from the audience. If the full two minutes is not required, we ask that the
moderators move on to the next presenter.

Presenters are asked to ensure that their slides are uploaded 30 minutes prior to their presentation
and to check in with the moderator when they arrive.
